Carnivore Experience

|

Alhamdullillah, this winter we had a chance to dine at Carnivore restaurant, on the Trianon boat in Giza last night. Carnivore is those who only consume meat and thus with an all-you-can-eat red and white meat buffet for around LE 150, it seems like a great deal. Carnivore first opened in Nairobi as an open-air dining concept featuring wild game and more domesticated meats on the menu, cooked and grilled simply on a masaai sword. The concept of a carvery is new to Egypt’s dining scene. However, diners at Carnivore have to contend themselves with docile chicken, beef, lamb, turkey and ostrich. Well, starting with the soup of the day, the zucchini and fennel soup was creamy and flavorful. Prior to that, the ‘zebra’ dressed waiters served us with white and whole wheat bread, various salads, and potato wedges as a starter.
Came together with the starters are the homemade types of sauces for the six types of meats. Believe me, the meats were plenty, but where is the wild buffalo? Zebra? Giraffe? well not Lion.
One must know on how to ‘communicate’ with the waiters, in case you need more food. Here, the communication is by using the flag placed on each tables. Putting down the flag at your table signals carvers walking around the restaurant to come over and restock the meat.
The flag goes up when you’re done eating, surrendering to your satiated appetite. Playing with the flag might put you into ‘trouble’. To play safe though, keep it down.
With a large seating area divided into various outdoor and indoor sections, an extensive drinks menu, and professional carvers slicing large skewers of meat with panache onto your plate, there is much to enjoy about Carnivore. At the end of the day, what matters is the family gathering and togetherness.
As for me, family – the wife and kids are part of you, thus playing equally important roles for your success, perhaps happiness in the ‘Eyes’ of Allah swt. Complimenting, compromising, and understanding are the key elements of this success, due to the fact that every success comes with sacrifice. And, this is tough. Well, nothing comes easy in life but nothing is possible for Allah swt, our job is to put our concerted efforts together in the name of Allah swt, the most Gracious and Merciful.
