Romancing Apamea

Overlooking the Ghab valley, 55 km to the northwest of Hamah, around 11:55 hours, we arrived at a historical site called Apamea. Apamea or Apameia is the name of several Hellenistic cities.
It was a treasure city and stud-depot of the Seleucid kings, was capital of Apamene, on the right bank of the Orontes River. It was previously known as Pharmake, enlarged by Seleucus I Nicator in 300 BC, who so named it after his Bactiran wife, Apama.
One must purchase a ticket to enter the 1 km (or more) romantic ruins of Apamea. Thanks to Azmi for purchasing the ticket using student rate, i.e. 10 SL per head, otherwise it will cost us around 50 SL per head.
The one hour and twenty minutes that we spent inside the site was indeed enriching. We departed for Halab or Aleppo at 13:20 minutes and had our elaborate Arabic lunch at a place called Khan Sheikhon.
