In line with its four objectives: [1] to be the world’s window on Egypt; [2] to be Egypt’s window on the world; [3] to meet the challenge of the digital age; [4] to be a center of learning and dialogue, the architecture of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina is modern and striking, with a 160m-diameter glass-paneled roof tilted out toward the sea like a sundial. Similar to its exterior, in which the outer wall made of grey Aswan granite, carved with symbols from 120 different scripts, the spectacular interior provides conducive ambience for the guests to indulge their mind and soul.
The workmanship and the finishing of the user-friendly facilities are amazing. It is for all people from all walks-of-life, local or foreigner, normal or handicap alike.
I spent slightly more than two hours exploring the main hall and only covered about one third of the whole premises. But, believed me, it was not sufficient to understand even the characteristic of its existence.
It is a place, a must for anyone to visit if you are in Alexandria. Well, admiring the pictures or photos is definitely different as compared experiencing it physically and mentally.
As mentioned earlier, not only the collections of the books and exhibits, the layout of the interior facilities are well planned and organized. Thus, provides customer or users’ satisfaction. And, this what I mean by a world-class facilities.
By having sharing all these, the most important thing is to optimize the utilization of the facilities in a good sense.
