a Sense of Urgency

|

A Sense of Urgency, the product of Harvard Business School press, authored by the non-other than John P Kotter, the author of the management best-seller Leading Change.
This book is rather about complacency, its implication, and tactics on how to mitigate it. Another aspect that one could learn from it is the sense of procrastination, the antonym of urgency.
The subject reminds me about one short chapter in the holy Qur’an, chapter 103, Al-‘Asr or literally means The Time: In the Name of Allah the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. By the Time; Verily, man is in loss; Except those who believe (in Islamic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds, and recommend one another to the truth [i.e. order one another to perform all kinds of good deed which Allah has ordained, and abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which Allah has forbidden], and recommend one another to patience (for sufferings, harms, and injuries which one may encounter in Allah’s Cause during preaching His religion of Islamic Monotheism)The chapter emphasizes on the importance of time management vis-à-vis doing good deeds and abstaining evil deeds, truthfully and with patience.

On the HR the Value Proposition, honestly, I still do not have the chance to flip through even the preface. However, the author – Dave Ulrich, the HR Guru convinced and energized me to read the book…..later, of course. I attended his talk and met him in person when I was attending an International HR Conference in Rome last year. Believed me, he is amazing.
