The 6th October War Panorama

|

We had heard a lot about this place called 6th October War Panorama located along the Salah Salem street Cairo and passed it several times. Well, just out of curiosity we decided to spend our Friday afternoon visiting it. It was not really a museum though but it has few collections of both Egyptians and Israelites Defense Forces’ artilleries captured after the 1973 Arab-Israel war. Some called it Yom Kippur War and some called it Ramadan War.

Other foreigners needs to pay 20 EGP each for the entrance ticket, while Arabs is required to pay 10 EGP and the Local only needs to pay 3 EGP. And, 2 EGP for one camera, except for the hand phone camera?

There were three (3) main theater halls in the main building. In hall number 1, we were shown with the old war movies in Arabic (without subtitle and translation). The theater hall was amazing but the movie and the sound system was bad. I would rate it 4 out of 10.
Hall number 2 was the rotation theater. While watching the awesome painting of the war scene, you will be briefed about the war in few languages and amazing sound effects. I would give 7 out 10 rating to this show.
Last but not least, in the theater Hall Number 3, there was a big model of the battle field with some jet fighters model, war ships, etc. Non Arabic will be provided with a headset for the voice over translation in few different languages. In this hall, the story was mainly about the sea and air battle. Interesting though but some of the mechanism of the models were not functioning properly. 6 out 10!
The place was well managed, cleaned and very informative. One will have the chance and opportunity to explore the tanks, amour cars and other artilleries closely. It was worth the effort, time and money.
