Bonsai: The art of Patience

|

Gardening is also one of pastime diversion. During our stint in Bintulu, landscaping our garden was always my second job. In 1997, our garden landscape was awarded champion for ABF Landscaping Competition. Gardening has varieties of categories and techniques. And, one of I love and crazed most is Bonsai training. I had three pots of Bonsai which I trained since 1981, when I first fell in love with this rare Malay hobby. The plant – facus- was given to me by our late Bonsai guru – Hj Ramli Mok. He and his son Alwi were very kind enough to teach me the techniques and tips on how to train Bonsai for FOC. It is an art of patience, it takes years to train and finally produce one good Bonsai which literally means in Japanese - plant in a pot. It originated from the Chinese which linked Taoism. Now, Bonsai has been commercialised and becomes a luxury collection items in many rich Tycoons especially in Asia.
