Amid the fast development and the modernisation of Miri City, the main entrance or lobby of the Masjid At Taqwa is always kept clean for welcoming all levels of people. About 20 meters straight after the entrance, one could see the permanent floating 'Astaka' or pavilion built for the holy Qur'an Recitation examination and other religious activities throughout the year especially during the holy month of Ramadhan.
Located adjacent the popular Miri City Fan along the Kipas Road off Merpati Road, Masjid At-Taqwa or Masjid of faithfulness or piety is one of the prominent important features – the masjid for the Muslim community in Miri. It was built in 1985. Apart from relatively big prayer hall that could accommodate 1000 congregation at one time, it was built in 1985, complete with, meeting rooms, library, burial preparation room, storage room, dining room, separate wash rooms and other function rooms. Its strategic location between the Miri Social Recreational Sports Center, Shopping Center and the Miri Downtown is one of things that had made its existence more relevant and convenient to the people around and outside Miri – especially the Bruneian who showered the local business people with Brunei Dollars during weekends.
