I personally, have some reservation about this 1Malaysia concept. The intention is definitely noble, relevant and essential though but we have to ensure the roll out must be shrewdly executed. Well, what is it actually? In filling up my time space and to killing my boredom, I came across Ir Dr Hasnul Mohammad Salleh’s abstracts. Excerpt from his abstract – “Upon ascending to Malaysia’s highest public office on April 2009, the Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Dato’ Sri Najib Tun Razak has made waves to all corners of the nation with the introduction of 1Malaysia concept. The concept evolves around culture of excellence, perseverance, acceptance, education, integrity, meritocracy, humility and loyalty. It also encompasses NKRAs on six major issues. Since independent, national unity has been made top priority – unity in education, culture, socio-economy, political, regional, etc. 1Malaysia seeks to improve the relations of all Malaysians, regardless of racial, religious or cultural backgrounds. There are certain major concerns that need to be addressed in order to seriously engage in 1Malaysia concept. Without correcting them, all efforts will be in vain.
The concept caters the needs of all sectors of the plural society and to ensure equal distribution of wealth between racial groups, between states and federal. Integrity on the part of the government and the public sector is one matter. The introduction of NKRAs and KPIs is a laudable move. The managing of all spectrums of unity (not just racial) is to be given proper thinking.
In order to move Malaysia towards a better society, identity and future hence unity and integration should promote co-operation between race, beliefs and region as one Malaysia, not as Sarawakian or Sabahan. The trust and aspiration of the people that 1Malaysia will bring about a greater nation must not be hampered. Therefore, the government will have to deliver on all its promises. The concept unveiled is a guiding principle to build a united and progressive nation, and to inculcate the spirit and values of togetherness and sense of belongings, regardless of race, religion and creed.
1Malaysia is not to abrogate affirmative action and Bumiputera privileges rather to improve its implementation in a fair manner and to keep intact the spirit of 1955-1957 which has been agreed upon by our forefathers”.

world Tallest Twin Tower:&:Masjid Asshakirin KLCC

Masjid Asshakirin KLCC is dwarf by the world tallest Twin Towers. In my opinion, my interpretation about this photo; the Twin Tower steadfastly standing in front of the Masjid denotes the shahadah – there is no god accept Almighty Allah swt and Muhammad (pbuh) is His Messenger. Apart from that, the towers are the manifestation of creativity, efforts, unity and trust. If we work hard, putting our hands, brains and soul together, insyaAllah – God willing, we will achieve what we want to achieve. And, we must do it for the sake of Allah swt and better life thereafter – destiny – our ultimate goal. Allah swt give us this world, being the 3rd phase of our journey, is to build our inner self and to continuously enhance our faith for our better life.
Another thing that I could learn from this picture is that, the physical appearance is not always the determining factor of success, but what imperative for someone to build genuine success in this world and life thereafter is his relationship with Allah swt and His Messenger Prophet Muhammad saw (pbuh).

airport that has the WORLD Tallest Control Tower....

|

Suvarnabhumi Airport loosely translates as 'Golden Land', also known as (New) Bangkok International Airport, was officially opened for limited domestic flight service on 15 September 2006, and opened for most domestic and all international commercial flights on 28 September 2006. The airport is currently the main hub for Thai Airways International, Bangkok Airways, Orient Thai Airlines, Thai AirAsia and will be a hub for the new Thai Tiger Airways. The facilities, signage, services and the hospitality of the ground staff (well, Thai is always well known for their soothing decentness) were remarkably commendable.
Located in Racha Thewa Bang Phli district, Samut Prakan Province, about 25 kilometres (16 mi) east of downtown Bangkok, the name Suvarnabhumi was chosen by King Bhumibol Adulyade, is the 5th busiest airport in Asia, having handled 40.5 million passengers in 2009, and is also a major air cargo hub. The airport inherited the airport code BKK from Don Mueang after the older airport ceased international commercial flights.
Designed by Helmut Jahn of Murphy/Jahn Architects, the airport has the world's tallest control tower (132.2 metres / 434 feet), and the world's third largest single-building airport terminal (563,000 square metres / 6,060,000 square feet). Suvarnabhumi A modern motorway no.7 connects the airport, Bangkok, and the heavily industrial Eastern Seaboard of Thailand, where most of the manufacturing for export takes place.

TESTING my skill with my new snapper::D7000

|

Capturing Hafiz - the AF7 graduate from Sarawak - live was not my intention. It was just my field work, testing my skill using D7000 capturing stage show / performance under natural lighting. Still lot of space for improvement though especially in using the right ISO, shutter speed, composition and angle. Photography is not just about the camera that one used, but creativity, knowing the right moment and braveness. And, the substance is all about capturing moment...

..in the name of cost optimisation

|

I travelled back to Bintulu on February 19 after two weeks away from my beloved family at my own cost. After spending 3.5 days and 3 nights with them I flew back to KL on February 22. AK 5141 took off around 10:05 hours and arrived the Low Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT) around 12:15 hours. I’ve spent about 10 minutes waited for my only luggage. The LCCT services and facilities are commendable despite its cheap design and building material. Another aspect that had made its utilization rate (if I may use the plant operation term) is the efficiency and credible ground staff. After collecting my luggage, I asked myself whether is it worth to go by bus or by taxi all the way to Prima Villa Kemensah (to take my car parked at Zailan’s residence)? Eventually, I’ve decided to give myself a try – by bus! Right on, dude..!! I went to the Aerobus counter and bought a one way ticket (what the heck that I must buy a return ticket?!%#) – RM 8 only. Actually, there is another good looking bus shuttle service between LCCT and KL Central. But the fare is RM1 higher than the Aerobus. That was first ever experience commute from airport by bus.

Bangkok JAM::not only traffic?

|

One will not have been considered to Bangkok, if they do not get squeezed by the jam aka Bangkok Jam! Well, in many densely populated big cities in this world, traffic congestion especially during the peak rush hour is quite normal – people are getting used to it. So does in Bangkok. But what have made it more interesting are the colors of the taxi – mostly pink, the three wheels ‘tok-tok’, busses, etc.
Apart from that, however, not only the roads are jam-packed with vehicles, even the pedestrian bridges are pack with people! Amazing.
Shopping Malls are also included in the list, especially those who are offering sales items. Out of curiousity, we went here (couldn't remember the name - just 5 minutes walking from our partner's office) around 18:10 hours and forced squeezing ourselves out from the complex at 18:30 hours. What a wasted effort & time? There the saying goes, "curiosity kills the cat"..ha.ha..

Muslim Prayer Room@Bangkok International Airport

My advices to any Muslim travelers, any you go in this world, please do not ever forget our obligation in fulfilling our prayers. We have no excuses or reasons (except those that had been mentioned in the sharia’ah law) to overlook it. The best possible thing is that, before you travel, check in the internet or from any other reliable sources, the location of Islamic Center or Masjid (even better). This will enable you to find a suitable to eat, stay or even visit. In case you are at Bangkok International Airport or Suvarnabhumi Airport, a pleasant spacious prayer room for both sexes is located at 2nd Floor (one floor down from the Departure level) of the gigantic building. There is Friday congregation prayer perform at the Prayer Room.

first ever experience@ the Landmark Bangkok

|

I flew to Bangkok on February 13 attending my first ever business meeting with our Thailand partner. I took a cab to KLIA around 06:06 hours and spent about 15 minutes in the queue before I checked in to MH 784. We arrived at 10:05 hours (local time) and took a 20 minutes taxi ride to the Landmark Bangkok hotel along the popular – tourist spot Sukhumvit street. Before performing my Dhuhur-‘Asar prayer, I took these photos – the view from 1504.
The above photo - the Rendezvous Ceiling - was taken while enjoying the welcoming drink provided by the amazing Landmark of Bangkok, not only for its strategic location and physical appearance but its superb services.

the end of the BEGINNING:::Egypt Chapter

|

Finally, 11.2.2011 marked another great history of Egypt - the step down of the 30 years dictatorship ruling chief of the NDP. Almost three quarter of the world populations applauded the 'victory' of the people power - the united Egyptians. To me this is just the end of the beginning and what I am worry is that; they - the genuine Egyptians may have won the battle but hopefully they will not loosing the war!

my amazing February calendar

|

The month of February just passed the mid 14 and I have just been 12 days or rather 8 days (minus the weekend and public holiday) in the office....but the days are fully tight!! And, since moving to this L54 of PETT1, my working hours is at average of 10 hours a day!! Amazing isn't it?..I've asked myself; what do you want in life?

Miri City Fan@Preparation NIte for 1Malaysia CNY OH

|

The chubby Aiman despite his boredom amid the crowd shared his natural awesome smile to the D7000 lens. He was very proud (at his age) that he managed to meet the CM of Sarawak in-person earlier of the day.
This year, 1Malaysia Chinese New Year Open House was held at the Miri City Fan complex on Sunday night – February 6, 2011. We were not able to join the crowd because I have to catch a flight to KL a day after that from Bintulu. Nevertheless, we (Aiman and I) had a chance to see the preparation and rehearsal two nights before. It was not a full-dress rehearsal though; neither the lighting nor the music was not readily programmed and synchronized with the cultural dance and songs. I took the opportunity to capture some of the scene whilst the crowd gradually filled the amphitheater amazed by the young (mainly) multiracial performers.

5th TOUR of DUTY

|

On February 6, 2011, AirAsia flight no. AK5164 witnessed the transition of the 5th chapter of my life or rather the 5th point of my Tour-Of-Duty. At 16:20 hours sharp, the Malaysian pioneer of a low cost flight service popular known for its catchy tag-line “Now Everyone Can Fly”, bridged my special assignment from the 2nd world largest LNG Complex to the unchallengeable world tallest twin tower. It was really a mixed feeling: as an imperfect human being, the sense of pride aroused when I was called to carry out a special assignment at the Executive Vice President office of the Malaysian Oil & Gas Giant – one of the Fortune 400 companies, but on the other hand, facing new challenges within the hectic and demanding KL’s life is going to be a strenuous episode of my life. One has to be disciplined and always at constant speed to catch up with the arduous laborious lifestyle of any big developed city, such as KL. Well, what choice do I have? Either you eject yourself out from the system or join it. I was not given a chance to exercise my right; I mean to allow me to wisely think before suggesting any decision. Again, who am I to do so? May Allah swt give me strength, determination and health to persevere the 5th chapter of my life.

my close encounter with d Sarawak prominent Chief

|

We had a 4 days long weekend this week for Malaysians to celebrate the lunar Chinese New year that falls from 3.2.2011. The kids however, were pampered by the one week or 9 days school break. In Bintulu, after exploring the Taman Millennium at Kidurong and tried to ‘chase‘the traditional lion dance that went to the Chinese residents’ houses, we were running short of idea on where to spend the holiday. Earlier, we had planned to drive to KK, Sabah through Brunei Darus Salam, Limbang and Lawas, but the idea was deferred due to the limited time that I had in preparing myself for my 5th tour of duty at KLCC. It was a wet day – raining since early in the morning and drizzling throughout the day, which ‘forced’ us to stay at home watching Al –Jazeera, CNN and BBC on the Egypt Uprising breaking news. Interestingly, these 3 channels, through my interpretation, conveyed the same messages – supporting the Pro-Democracy Egyptians’ appeal to their president to honorably step down from his 30 years helm. On the second day of the holiday, when we had typical Malay breakfast – fried rice, salted fish, etc. – (heavy stuff eh!), I suggested to Nana (after exploring few options):” immediately after this, pack up we go to Miri”. The idea was blissfully welcomed by Nana with no hesitant. Except M Asri, the four of us knocked off and departed Miri at around 10:05 am. It was raining throughout the journey, but we reached Miri before 12 noon mainly due to less traffic on the road that had eased our trip. After having our lunch at our favorite Madli’s Café, we went to Masjid At Taqwa Miri (some photos with brief info about the Masjid was released earlier), which is just 5 minutes drive from Madli’s. We were actually early for the Friday prayer, but the parking space was almost full and there were traffic polices standing guard around the Masjid . I parked my car quite a distance away from the Masjid’s main entrance and while on the way to the Masjid, I’ve asked one of the traffic police: “who is coming, brother?” he briefly replied me;”Chief Minister”. “O..no wonder” I grasped. I was actually went in with my new snapper – D7000 and “this would be an opportunity for me” I talked to myself. True enough, seconds after M Aiman and I made our ablution, the Sarawak Chief Minister and his second wife with the entourage appeared at the Masjid’s lobby from their VVIP’s vehicle. Shamelessly, amid the formally attired VIPs, I took my snapper and shot few stunning photos of the beloved Pehin Seri Hj Taib Mahmud, Chief Minister of Sarawak and his gorgeous wife. After almost five decades exploring this temporary world, that was my first ever experience – close encounter with the Sarawak Premiere and had a chance capturing live his steady-energetic figure. About his second wife though, my only comment is – he has an awesome taste!!

Nite@Masjid At-Taqwa Miri

|

Amid the fast development and the modernisation of Miri City, the main entrance or lobby of the Masjid At Taqwa is always kept clean for welcoming all levels of people. About 20 meters straight after the entrance, one could see the permanent floating 'Astaka' or pavilion built for the holy Qur'an Recitation examination and other religious activities throughout the year especially during the holy month of Ramadhan.
Located adjacent the popular Miri City Fan along the Kipas Road off Merpati Road, Masjid At-Taqwa or Masjid of faithfulness or piety is one of the prominent important features – the masjid for the Muslim community in Miri. It was built in 1985. Apart from relatively big prayer hall that could accommodate 1000 congregation at one time, it was built in 1985, complete with, meeting rooms, library, burial preparation room, storage room, dining room, separate wash rooms and other function rooms. Its strategic location between the Miri Social Recreational Sports Center, Shopping Center and the Miri Downtown is one of things that had made its existence more relevant and convenient to the people around and outside Miri – especially the Bruneian who showered the local business people with Brunei Dollars during weekends.

These photos were captured between 23:55 hours and 00:25 hours of the Chinese New Year eve on the 2/3 February 2011 at my neighbourhood using my new snapper - D7000.
To my Chinese friends all over the world, hope it is not too late for me to wish you Gong Xii Fatt Chai. Selamat Tahun Baru - Happy New Year.

Amid Turmoil::a true Tolerance, Understanding & Respect

Amid the turmoil, chaotic and unpleasant environment, let alone the boiling anger, these thousands Muslim Egyptians never ever forget their obligations towards their Creator the Almighty Allah swt. But, what had really made me amazed about these photos (that I’ve downloaded from NavineZaki’s Twitter), their Christians friends lend their hands forming a human barricade in preventing them from any unwanted interruption during the prayer. And, this is what I called a true sense of tolerance, understanding and RESPECT. The scene is quite similar to One Malaysia thingy but unfortunate and sad to mention, what the people there (at Tahrir Square, Cairo Egypt) are currently facing is very much different from what are enjoying here in Malaysia. Let us pray for their success in achieving what they had dreamt way back since 30 years ago.
