Life at El Agamy Today

|

ElAgamy is about 20 to 30 minutes normal drive during a normal day from Alexandria located in the intersection of Alexandria-Cairo Desert Road and the North-Coast Road. Relatively small town, but it accommodates few big petrochemical plants and few other oil and gas plants. Agamy literally means in Arabic foreigner or non-Arab. Popular with its turquoise water, Al Agamy in the 50s’ was the ‘compound’ of the elite class which then evolved to what it is you see today.
The city also has a number of Monuments, including a French Fort built during the French Occupation, under Napoleon Bonaparte, and has several watchtowers built in the Ottoman era, to guard Egypt's North Coast. Thus, still make the town is one of the tourist attractions in Alexandria.
