Mostafa Kamal Mosque, built in 1964, situated at the Khalil Hayat Street of Kafr Abdou is the biggest Mosque at Roushdy, Alexandria. I had mentioned about this Mosque months ago. However, what triggered me to mention about this Mosque again, is the refurbishment and face-lift plan made by its council. The plan, which will cost them about EGP 250,000 was announced after Friday prayer in early May 2009. The details breakdown of what they have planned to repair, installed, and face-lifted were published around the Mosque. Well, what actually amazed me was, three weeks after the announcement of the plan; the donation came like the monsoon rain showering the rainforest in the equatorial region of this temporary world. They managed to collect the required amount of EGP 250,000 within less than a month. And, believed me, at the time this photos were taken, the wiring work has already commenced! This is what I respect and like most about the Egyptians in general. They are not parsimonious, and their fists are loose when come to amal jari’ah. Let us pray before Allah swt to give His blessing to all the donors.
The life in front of the Mostafa Kamal Mosque along the Khalil Hayat Street. Except fishes and other seafoods, one could find anything you need along this street.
